How It Works

The Physics: Release Extension

To accurately simulate live pitching, YieldUp Timing calculates exact ball flight duration based on professional metrics, specifically accounting for Release Extension.

While MLB Statcast averages a 6.3-foot extension, a 5.5-foot extension is the highly accurate baseline for high school varsity mechanics. By subtracting this from the 60.5-foot mound distance, the true flight distance becomes exactly 55 feet.

Velocity (ft/s) = Pitch Speed (MPH) × 1.46667 Time (ms) = (Flight Distance / Velocity) × 1000

Bat Crack Detection & Audio Cues

This app utilizes your device's microphone and the Web Audio API to actively monitor ambient noise levels without relying on screen taps.

A rhythmic audio engine guides the hitter: three low beeps for the wind-up, and a sharp high beep signifying the exact pitcher's release. To prevent the device from confusing its own beep with a bat crack, the sensor employs a precise 200-millisecond audio blanking window following the release cue before activating the impact threshold filter.
